Freya Ridings

Born in London in 1994 and partly trained at the BRIT School, Freya Ridings develops a songwriting style centered on piano and guitar, blending pop, folk and soul with a strong emphasis on ballads and spare arrangements. She began releasing her first tracks in 2017, including "Blackout", and gained visibility the same year with "Lost Without You", a song that established her deep voice and direct approach to songwriting. Before her debut album she issued Live at St Pancras Old Church (2017), Live at Omeara (2018) and the EP You Mean the World to Me (2019). Her album Freya Ridings was released in 2019, buoyed by You Mean the World to Me and Castles, and extended an aesthetic of melodic pop with acoustic touches. She toured the British circuit, opened for artists such as Tears for Fears, Tash Sultana and Lewis Capaldi, and performed at Glastonbury in 2019. In 2023 she released Blood Orange, a record with broader production while remaining faithful to intimate songwriting, and co-wrote "Rise" for the film Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.
