Amber Run
Born in Nottingham in the early 2010s among university students, Amber Run originally formed as a five‑piece before gradually refocusing around the core of Joe Keogh, Tom Sperring and Henry Wyeth. The band sits within a British indie rock and alternative pop vein, blending melodic guitars, washes of keyboards and prominent vocal harmonies, with a taste for tension‑building passages and introspective atmospheres. Picked up through the BBC Introducing circuit, Amber Run released several EPs in the mid‑2010s and then issued a debut album, 5am, in 2015, marked by slow ballads and broader, more expansive tracks. The trajectory continued with For A Moment, I Was Lost in 2017, featuring darker, more electric arrangements, followed by Philophobia in 2019, which repeatedly explored emotional vulnerability and romantic relationships. In 2023 Amber Run further refined this intimate yet immediate songwriting with How To Be Human, while continuing to tour the UK and Europe, where the trio develops on stage a sound that oscillates between atmospheric ballads and more straightforward rock numbers.
