Infected Mushroom
Formed in the late 1990s in Israel by producers Erez Eisen and Amit “Duvdev” Duvdevani, Infected Mushroom initially emerged from the local psytrance scene before expanding into a broader range of electronic music. The duo quickly established an identifiable sound, blending fast trance structures, complex melodies, rhythmic breaks and influences from rock and pop, often using vocals and more cinematic textures. Infected Mushroom’s early albums, including The Gathering (1999), Classical Mushroom (2000) and BP Empire (2001), are rooted in psytrance culture, while Converting Vegetarians (2003) and IM the Supervisor (2004) mark a move toward more hybrid songwriting. After relocating to Los Angeles, Infected Mushroom increased international touring and festival appearances, developed a live format in which electronics and amplified instruments coexist, and explored styles ranging from electro to sounds closer to industrial rock. Records such as Vicious Delicious (2007), Legend of the Black Shawarma (2009), Army of Mushrooms (2012), Converting Vegetarians II (2015), Return to the Sauce (2017) and Head of NASA and the 2 Amish Boys (2018) illustrate this gradual evolution, with occasional collaborations— notably with Perry Farrell and Jonathan Davis—that reinforce the crossover aspect of their music.
