Ian Pooley
Born Ian Pinnekamp in 1973, Ian Pooley has developed in Germany a career tied to the European house scene of the early 1990s, with a sound that blends house, tech house, disco accents and Brazilian influences. His earliest work appeared as early as 1991 under several aliases, notably Space Cube and T’N’I with DJ Tonka, before the name Ian Pooley established itself from 1993 onward. His music rests on supple rhythms, a marked use of sampling and arrangements often colored by funk, soul and Latino hues. After releases such as Relations in 1995, Meridian in 1998 and Since Then in 2000, Ian Pooley broadened his palette over the years with more melodic productions and collaborations including Rosanna, Zélia Fonseca, Marcos Valle and Esthero. In 2003 he founded the label Pooled Music, marking a new phase in his work as a producer and DJ. His discography under his own name also includes Souvenirs (2004), In Other Words (2008) and What I Do (2013). Ian Pooley has also produced remixes for artists like Daft Punk, Deee-Lite and The Cardigans, while remaining active on club and festival stages.
