Émile Bilodeau
Born on Montreal’s South Shore in 1996, Émile Bilodeau stands in the tradition of Quebec chanson, blending folk, pop, and spoken inflections. A singer-songwriter, he first came to attention in the mid-2010s on the contest circuit and in small venues before joining the Montreal label Bravo Musique. His debut album, Rites de passage (2016), set out a direct, narrative-driven universe where humor, everyday observation, and social concerns meet. He followed in 2019 with Grandeur mature, which deepened themes of family, friendship, and adult life with a sound leaning closer to folk rock, then in 2021 with Petite nature, whose more pop-oriented arrangements still keep the lyrics firmly rooted in Quebec French. In 2023, Au bar des espoirs broadened the scope again, weaving in more festive rhythms and intimate ballads. On stage, Bilodeau alternates between solo performances and full-band lineups, touring widely in Quebec and across the Canadian Francophonie, with a repertoire built around sung-spoken lyrics and choruses made for sing-alongs.
