DJ Sammy
Born in Mallorca in 1969, Samuel Bouriah developed the DJ Sammy project in the Balearic club scene, where he began DJing in the mid-1980s before training as a sound technician. His music falls into eurotrance and dance-pop around the turn of the 1990s and 2000s, with direct, melodic, vocal-forward productions designed for both clubs and radio. DJ Sammy first drew attention in Spain with the early tracks recorded alongside Marie-José van der Kolk, then credited as Carisma and later Loona, notably on the 1998 album Life Is Just a Game. His career gained international dimension with Heaven in 2002, propelled by dance remakes of pop-rock songs like Heaven with Yanou and Do, then The Boys of Summer with Loona and Mel, which firmly established DJ Sammy's name on the eurodance scene. He continued with The Rise in 2005, where the songwriting remained anchored in accessible trance at the crossroads of Europop and club formats. Alongside his own releases, DJ Sammy worked on production and remixes for other Spanish and international artists, notably Enrique Iglesias, Marta Sánchez and David Bisbal. Remaining active through the 2010s and 2020s, DJ Sammy continues to alternate singles, vocal collaborations, and appearances on dance stages linked to the trance legacy and European commercial appeal.
