Vengaboys
Originating in the Netherlands around producers Wessel van Diepen and Dennis van den Driesschen, the Vengaboys project took shape in 1997 within Rotterdam's eurodance scene. The act was presented on stage and in videos as a quartet, originally made up of Kim Sasabone, Denise Post-Van Rijswijk, Robin Pors and Roy den Burger. Vengaboys belong to a dance-pop vein strongly influenced by late‑1990s eurodance and bubblegum dance, featuring straightforward tempos, repetitive choruses and a light aesthetic designed for both club and radio. The group's rise came through a string of singles quickly circulated across Europe — including "Up & Down", "We Like to Party! (The Vengabus)", "Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!!" and "We’re Going to Ibiza!" — before the release of Up & Down - The Party Album in 1998 and The Platinum Album in 2000. After an initial period of activity that ended in the early 2000s, Vengaboys paused before reforming in 2007. Since then they have regularly appeared on tours and at events dedicated to 1990s and 2000s pop and dance, presenting a stage format centered on that repertoire.
