Dizzy Mizz Lizzy
Formed in 1988 in Valby, a suburb of Copenhagen, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy brings together Tim Christensen on vocals and guitar, Martin Nielsen on bass and Søren Friis on drums in a power-trio format. Their sound fits within alternative rock, informed by melodic hard rock, power rock and a sensibility inherited from early 1990s grunge — dense riffs, carefully constructed choruses and a pronounced taste for contrasts between electric tension and more pop-leaning vocal lines. After winning the Danish competition DM i Rock in 1993, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy quickly made their mark on the Scandinavian scene with the album Dizzy Mizz Lizzy (1994) and Rotator (1996), while maintaining a steady presence at Danish festivals and in Japan. The band split in 1998, with Tim Christensen embarking on a solo career, before an initial reunion in 2009 and a more sustained return from 2014. This new phase produced Forward in Reverse (2016) and Alter Echo (2020), where Dizzy Mizz Lizzy expanded their songwriting toward more progressive formats and broader arrangements without abandoning the direct rock foundation that shapes their identity.
