TV-2
Born in Aarhus, Denmark around 1980, TV-2 emerged from the ashes of the group Taurus with Steffen Brandt, Hans Erik Lerchenfeld, Georg Olesen and Sven Gaul. The band quickly established itself in the Danish scene with Danish-language songs that blend pop rock, new wave and rock, featuring direct melodic lines often tinged with irony and observations of everyday life. Their first album, Fantastiske Toyota, was released in 1981, followed by Beat (1983), Nutidens unge (1984), Rigtige mænd gider ikke høre mere vrøvl (1985) and Bag duggede ruder (1987), milestones of a career built for the long term. Steffen Brandt’s role as principal singer and songwriter gives TV-2’s repertoire strong coherence, while the group maintains the dynamics of a classic rock lineup focused on songs. Over the decades TV-2 has remained active in the studio and on stage, issuing several live albums and compilations and staying associated with an accessible, energetic Danish pop rooted in social commentary.
