Dagny

Born in Tromsø in northern Norway, Dagny — whose full name is Dagny Norvoll Sandvik — developed her pop songwriting within a very musical family before moving to the UK in the early 2010s, first to Liverpool and later to London. Her early projects leaned toward acoustic and folk-pop formats, before she steered Dagny toward an increasingly direct, melodic and rhythm-driven pop that blends indie pop, dance-pop, synth-pop, electropop and touches of disco. Dagny’s breakthrough came in 2015 with the single “Backbeat,” which quickly put her on European pop stages and at showcases such as Eurosonic, by:Larm and The Great Escape. After the Ultraviolet EP in 2016 she released several notable singles, including “Wearing Nothing” and “Love You Like That,” the latter forming the basis for Katy Perry’s “Never Really Over,” on which Dagny is credited as a writer. Her trajectory continued with the album Strangers / Lovers in 2020 and Elle in 2024, where she refines a bright pop sound often threaded with clear melancholy. Alongside her solo output, Dagny has collaborated with Seeb, Steve Aoki, Kygo and Astrid S and remains very active live at festivals in Norway and the UK such as Øyafestivalen, Bergenfest and Mighty Hoopla.
