Moyka

Under the name Moyka, Monika Engeseth from Norway has been developing an electronic pop that is melodic and atmospheric, positioned between art pop, electropop, indie pop and dance-pop. Born in 1997 and from the Hallingdal valley, she began releasing music in 2019 with the EP Circles, followed by Spaces in 2020 — two short formats that lay the groundwork for a songwriting approach centered on emotion, clear choruses and synth-toned productions, often marked by a tension between a dancing momentum and inwardness. Moyka subsequently drew attention on the Nordic and European scene with appearances at events such as Eurosonic, in a career spanning online releases, showcases and live performances in Norway as well as internationally. Her debut album, The Revelations of Love, was released in 2021, followed by Movies, Cars & Heartbreak in 2023, confirming an evolution toward a broader pop, cinematic at times, without abandoning a direct and accessible format. Moyka writes and produces part of her music, which reinforces the coherence of a universe where the voice remains at the center, carried by precise arrangements, supple rhythms and a marked taste for contrasts between fragility, movement and pop clarity.
