Headpins

Born in Vancouver in the late 1970s, Headpins established themselves in the Canadian hard rock scene with a lineup initially assembled by Ab Bryant and Brian MacLeod, then tied to Chilliwack. The band truly gained momentum in the early 1980s, first with vocalist Denise McCann and then, after her departure, with Darby Mills, whose powerful voice left its mark on the recordings and concerts of this period. Headpins developed a straightforward hard rock, anchored in the FM rock of the era, with punchy guitars, melodic hooks, and a live energy inherited from the circuit of North American large venues. Their studio discography centers on three albums, Turn It Loud (1982), Line of Fire (1983), and Head Over Heels (1985), which permanently established the Headpins name in Canada. Over the years, the band experienced several lineup changes, while Ab Bryant and Bernie Aubin remained associated with its live continuity. Headpins also shared the bill with rock groups established in the 1980s, notably during tours in Europe and North America. Since the 2010s, the lineup has continued its live activity with a new configuration, including singer Katrina Lawrence, while remaining tied to the melodic hard rock heritage that shaped Headpins from the start.
