Catching Flies
Catching Flies is the moniker of London‑based producer George King, who crafts an electronic sound rooted in downtempo, trip‑hop and house, informed by soul, jazz and instrumental hip‑hop. Active since 2012, he first drew attention with his remix of Mt. Wolf’s “Life Size Ghosts” before establishing his world on the EPs The Stars (2012) and The Long Journey Home (2013), released on his Indigo Soul label. Catching Flies alternates between instrumental pieces and more vocal‑led tracks, with occasional collaborations such as “New Gods” featuring Jay Prince and Oscar Jerome, and “Ao” with Submotion Orchestra. His writing broadened on Silver Linings (2019), followed by Silver Linings Remixed (2020), Orsay (2022) and Tides (2024), where he refines a language of airy textures, supple or slightly fractured rhythms, and arrangements that draw from both ambient and beat music. On stage he moves between DJ sets and live shows in clubs, venues and festivals across Europe and Asia, notably touring Europe as support for Bonobo. In 2025 Catching Flies continues to explore short formats and more orchestrated writing with Beats & Pieces, recorded with the West Green Quartet.
