Michelle

Born Tanja Gisela Hewer in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, Michelle established herself on the German-language schlager scene in the early 1990s with melodic pop tinged with Europop, characterized by straightforward choruses and a clear vocal delivery. After singing in amateur bands as a teenager, she appeared on television in 1993 and developed her career with the support of singer Kristina Bach and producer Jean Frankfurter. Her debut album Erste Sehnsucht was released in 1993, followed by titles such as Wie Flammen im Wind (1997), So was wie Liebe (2000) and Rouge (2002). Michelle represented Germany at Eurovision 2001 with Wer Liebe lebt, a song that reinforced her place in the popular schlager repertoire featured on TV and at genre festivals. After a break she returned with Leben! in 2005, released the covers album My Passion under the name Tanja Thomas in 2006, and continued with Goodbye Michelle (2009), Der beste Moment (2010), L’amour (2012), Ich würd’ es wieder tun (2016), Tabu (2018), Anders ist gut (2020) and 30 Jahre Michelle – Das war’s... noch nicht! (2022).
