The Minds Of 99
Formed in Copenhagen in the early 2010s, The Minds Of 99 is a Danish rock band that sings in Danish, positioned between post‑punk, new wave and alternative pop. The quintet comprises Niels Brandt (vocals), Asger Wissing (bass), Anders Folke Larsen (keyboards), Louis Clausen (drums) and Jakob Bechmann (guitar); they began to attract attention after winning the Danish KarriereKanonen competition in 2013. The Minds Of 99 released a self‑titled debut in 2014, marked by post‑punk energy and direct lyrics, and refined their songwriting on Liber (2015), where the band explored more pop‑oriented structures while retaining a pronounced rhythmic tension. With Solkongen (2018) the group expanded its aesthetic toward a broader sound mixing melodic guitars, synthetic keyboards and catchy choruses, an approach they confirmed with Infinity Action in 2021, featuring brighter textures. On stage, The Minds Of 99 develops a collective performance centered on Niels Brandt's expressive voice, prominent bass lines and the use of synths that at times brings the band closer to electronic pop, while remaining rooted in a North‑European rock tradition.
