Soleima
Born in Aarhus as Sarah Mariegaard, Soleima has, since the mid-2010s, developed a songwriting voice situated between pop, hip-hop and alternative R&B. Her tracks keep melodies at their core while giving significant weight to rhythm, electronic textures and a very direct vocal approach. Before going solo, she was part of the Danish hip-hop collective Flødeklinikken; she launched her solo career in 2014 and released the single "My Boi" in 2015. She further defined her world with the EP NO. 14 in 2017—notably through "Cracks" and "Breathe" featuring Kranium and Hoodboi—and with the EP "Bulldog" in 2018, where her pop writing took on a more tense, concise form. In 2020 she released her debut album "Powerslide" on Big Beat Records and undertook her first U.S. tour that same year. Her trajectory continued with "Nationens Skrammer" in 2023, an album that extends her taste for contemporary pop infused with hip-hop elements while opening the door to collaborations with Lord Siva and Artigeardit. Soleima thus figures within a Danish scene attentive to current pop forms without abandoning a tight song format.
