Schrotthagen

Formed in Germany in 2023, Schrotthagen brings together film composer Dieter Schleip, born in Aachen, and producer Giovanni Berg, born in Munich and trained in classical music and jazz. Schrotthagen continues a collaboration already underway on soundtrack projects, with its starting point in writing a techno piece for a club scene in a film. From that base emerged a sound the duo describe as cinematic techno, at the crossroads of a forward-driving techno pulse, trance textures and a sense of dramaturgy inherited from music for film. At Schrotthagen, melodic rises, atmospheric pads and taut rhythms occupy a central place, while remaining firmly within the framework of electronic dance music. The project took shape quickly with several releases, including the album Sturm und Drang in 2024 and Nostalgie und Traurigkeit in 2025. Schrotthagen thus develops a format in which Dieter Schleip’s narrative writing meets Giovanni Berg’s more club-oriented approach, in a dark, emotive and direct aesthetic that circulates across platforms, record formats and electronic stages.
