Somewhen

Born in Berlin in the mid‑1980s, Somewhen initially trained on drums and piano before producing hip‑hop instrumentals and later turning to electronic music while working as a sound engineer. Rooted in the Berlin scene, Somewhen develops a broad‑ranged techno where hypnotic pads, industrial tension, experimental textures and more frontal surges marked by a rave aesthetic intersect. His references span Depeche Mode and Massive Attack as well as his city's club culture, which explains a sound that is less linear than strictly functional techno. As a DJ and producer, Somewhen has released music on several contemporary scene labels, including Ostgut Ton, R Label Group and his own label Sana. Across his releases and sets he alternates between immersive formats, conceptual constructions and more direct sequences, maintaining a dark, detailed and shifting writing style.
