Babe Rainbow

Under the name Babe Rainbow, Vancouver-based Cameron Reed produces electronic music at the intersection of ambient, instrumental hip‑hop, downtempo and a post‑dubstep with hazy textures. Active since the late 2000s, Babe Rainbow emerged with two EPs on Warp — Shaved (2010) and Endless Path (2011) — which established a slow, fragmented and often melancholic writing style, with supple rhythms and prominent soundscapes. His trajectory also includes remixes for Grimes, Midnight Juggernauts, Porcelain Raft and Jokers of the Scene, as well as production work for rappers and occasional releases like Give You Time (2011). In 2012 Cameron Reed briefly joined How To Dress Well’s live band before steering Babe Rainbow toward more stripped‑down forms, as on Minnesota Winter EP and Falling Apart EP, both released in 2014. He later continued under his own name with Neglected Ambient Works Vol. 1 (2018), while Babe Rainbow remained a very free approach to electronic composition, balancing diffuse beatmaking, introspective atmospheres and subtle experimentation.
