Dumbo Gets Mad

Dumbo Gets Mad is a psychedelic pop project led by Italian musician Luca Bergomi, founded in 2011 between Reggio Emilia and Los Angeles. The debut album, Elephants at the Door, was conceived there and released the same year, marked by a blend of lo-fi pop, retro grooves and psychedelic textures. With Dumbo Gets Mad, Bergomi builds a world where bright melodies, processed vocals and 1970s-inspired arrangements coexist with a more contemporary production approach. In 2013 the album Quantum Leap extended this aesthetic, emphasizing improvisational elements and stretched structures, while several tracks drew attention from independent American media. The third album, Thank You Neil, released in 2015, moved toward a more soulful and cosmic palette, inspired by the lectures and work of astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, featuring a cleaner sound recorded in near-live conditions. Dumbo Gets Mad returned in 2019 with the single Makes You Fly, released by the French label Nice Guys, before signing in 2021 Things Are Random And Time Is Speeding Up, an album that consolidates a more direct songwriting approach without abandoning psychedelic atmospheres. That same year, Dumbo Gets Mad also contributed to the production of Noi Loro Gli Altri by Italian rapper Marracash, further broadening his collaborative scope.
