Bebe

Born in Valencia in 1978 and raised in Extremadura, María Nieves Rebolledo Vila, known as Bebe, rose to prominence at the start of the 2000s in the Spanish music scene with direct writing and a voice whose range sits between pop, flamenco, folk, rock and touches of electronic. After early stage appearances in Madrid and a stint with the group Vanagloria as a backing vocalist, Bebe released Pafuera telarañas in 2004, produced by Carlos Jean, featuring tracks such as Malo, Ella and Siempre me quedará, which established her deep voice and the blend of acoustic guitar, urban rhythms and flamenco inflections. She followed with Y. in 2009, then Un pokito de rocanrol in 2012, where her writing grew more nerve and electric, before Cambio de piel in 2015, an album more open to pop and Latin textures. Throughout her career, Bebe has also collaborated with artists from pop, flamenco and Spanish-language song, while pursuing an acting career in film and television, notably in La educación de las hadas, Caótica Ana and the series Libertad. Between singer-songwriter tradition, rock energy and Mediterranean inflections, Bebe has toured on festival stages and venues in Spain as well as in Latin America, with a repertoire marked by the intensity of the lyrics and a highly embodied performance.
