Vanesa Martín
Born in Málaga in 1980, Vanesa Martín trained early in guitar and songwriting, and began singing in venues around her city before moving to Madrid in the early 2000s. She developed a Spanish-language pop rooted in the singer-songwriter tradition, featuring ballads, a Latin-pop sensibility and Andalusian touches that appear in both her phrasing and melodies. After an initial appearance on the record El búho real, she released Agua in 2006 and Trampas in 2009, a milestone that broadened her visibility on the Spanish scene. Her subsequent albums include Cuestión de piel (2012), Crónica de un baile (2014), Munay (2016), Todas las mujeres que habitan en mí (2018), Siete veces sí (2020), Placeres y pecados (2022) and Casa mía (2025). Alongside her albums, Vanesa Martín also writes for other performers — notably India Martínez, Pastora Soler and María Toledo — and occasionally collaborates with artists such as Pablo Alborán, Malú, David DeMaría, Mariza, Abel Pintos and Jesse & Joy. Between tours in theatres, large venues and television appearances in Spain, she maintains a repertoire centered on text, voice and arrangements that range from restrained acoustic settings to fuller pop production.
