Mala Rodríguez

Born in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, in 1979, Mala Rodríguez emerged in the late 1990s on the Spanish hip‑hop scene by blending Spanish-language rap, flamenco heritage and urban sonorities. Moving to Seville at a young age and active between Andalusia and Madrid, she was noticed in the underground scene before releasing her debut album Lujo Ibérico in 2000, already showing a style defined by direct lyrics and a distinctive Andalusian accent. The albums Alevosía (2003) and Malamarismo (2007) confirmed a dark, narrative and often introspective rap approach, while Dirty Bailarina (2010) and Bruja (2013) opened her sound toward R&B, Latin rhythms and a more electronic aesthetic. With Mala (2020) she continued this mix of trap, reggaeton and hip‑hop while maintaining strong roots in Spanish culture. Through numerous collaborations with artists from Spain and Latin America and frequent appearances on major urban music stages, Mala Rodríguez has developed a discography where rap, Romani-influenced elements and contemporary popular music intersect.
