Rosana

Born in Arrecife on the island of Lanzarote in the Canaries, Rosana Arbelo Gopar first developed her songwriting before moving to Madrid, where she studied harmony and guitar. Rosana works within Latin pop, folk-pop and pop rock, with a songwriting approach focused on melody, restrained acoustic or electric arrangements, and a deep, immediately recognizable voice. Before performing her own material she wrote for other artists, notably Azúcar Moreno, and became known by her first name with Lunas rotas in 1996, propelled by songs such as “El Talismán”, “A fuego lento” and “Si tú no estás”. She followed with Luna nueva in 1998, which features collaborations with María Dolores Pradera, the Harlem Gospel Singers and Las Hijas del Sol, and with Rosana in 2001, an album that accentuates the pop-rock side of her repertoire. Her discography also includes the live Marca registrada (2003), Magia (2005), A las buenas y a las malas (2009), ¡Buenos días, mundo! (2011), 8 Lunas (2013), built around reinterpretations with guests, and En la memoria de la piel (2016). A persistent presence on Spanish and Latin American stages, Rosana alternates between tours, collaborations and television projects related to song.
