Ricardo Montaner
Born in Avellaneda, in the province of Buenos Aires, Ricardo Montaner grew up in Maracaibo after his family moved to Venezuela, then built his career between that city and Caracas. From the 1980s he established himself in a repertoire of Latin pop and romantic ballads, with straightforward melodic songwriting, a tenor voice and, at times, forays into bolero, orchestral arrangements, Christian faith songs or more tropical colors. After beginnings in local groups such as Scala, he released Cada día in 1983, followed by Ricardo Montaner (1986), Ricardo Montaner 2 (1988), Un toque de misterio (1989), En el último lugar del mundo (1991) and Los hijos del sol (1992), records that accompanied his enduring position on the Latin American scene. The rest of his career shows several aesthetic shifts, from Con la London Metropolitan Orchestra in 1999 and its follow-up in 2004 to Suma in 2002, centered on bolero, then Viajero frecuente (2012), Agradecido (2014), Ida y vuelta (2016), Montaner (2019), Fe (2021) and Tango (2022). Ricardo Montaner has also multiplied duets, notably with Alejandro Lerner, Evaluna, India Martínez, Alejandro Sanz or Il Volo, and has held a regular place on Spanish-language music television as a coach on various versions of La Voz.
