Ara Malikian
Born in Beirut in 1968 into an Armenian family, Ara Malikian grew up in Lebanon before pursuing early violin studies in Europe, notably in Germany, where he trained in the classical repertoire. Later based in Spain, Malikian built a career as a violin soloist, performing recitals, concerts with orchestras and chamber music projects. His work moves between classical music, Middle Eastern music, Armenian traditions, Spanish influences and borrowings from rock and jazz, in an aesthetic often described as crossover. On international tours, he develops programs that place Bach, Paganini or Piazzolla alongside reworkings of contemporary songs and pieces inspired by various Mediterranean cultures. Ara Malikian also appears in theatre and film projects and collaborates with flamenco musicians and European orchestras, anchoring his trajectory at the crossroads of the classical stage, world music and a more popular approach to instrumental music.
