Formed in Harringay in north London, GeeJay brings together singer-songwriter Gee and multi-instrumentalist producer Jay, who met while working at a neighbourhood music café. Early improvised sessions around the café’s old piano gave rise to a contemporary soul duo infused with R&B, groove and jazz shades. GeeJay initially developed independently, releasing two EPs and then a debut album, in a setup where the voice sits at the centre while piano, rhythmic textures and spare arrangements shape the tracks. Their style relies on direct songwriting, flexible melodic lines and a balance between intimate soul and a broader onstage energy. Along the way GeeJay have worked the London live circuit, including a performance at the Jazz Café, and their songs have been played across BBC outlets—from Radio 1 to 1Xtra, as well as Radio 2 and BBC Radio London. The duo has also announced a new album for 2025, opening up to string arrangements that extend their soul-and-jazz foundation.
