JONES

Under the name JONES, Cherie Jones-Mattis has built from the UK a repertoire that sits between alternative pop, soul, R&B, jazz and indie songwriting, adopting a restrained approach that keeps the voice at the centre. JONES emerged in 2015 with the EP Indulge, propelled by the title track, and quickly developed this sensitive, minimal format across several singles before releasing her debut album, New Skin, in 2016. Her music moves between contemporary soul ballads, mellow electronic pop and intimately textured melodies, without tipping into showy production. After that first album, JONES continued her trajectory with the EPs Acoustic (2017), London and New York (2018), Blue Sunshine (2021) and Magic in My Head (2023). Along the way she has also collaborated with pop and electronic artists such as HONNE, Tom Chaplin, Tourist and Claptone, extending the soft, nocturnal dimension of her universe. JONES thus sits within a contemporary British pop tradition in which restraint, soulful textures and a clear sense of song remain the most constant elements.
