Alice Costelloe
Based in London, Alice Costelloe first became known as part of Big Deal, a duo formed in the early 2010s and released on Mute Records, working in a register between indie rock, shoegaze and melancholic pop, before also performing as a live bassist for Superfood. That initial period placed her within a British guitar‑pop scene, but her solo work has taken a different direction — more stripped back and more fluid in form. Under the name Al Costelloe, and later under her full name, she independently released the EP So Neurotic in 2023, followed by When It’s The Time in 2024 after joining the UK label Moshi Moshi Records. Produced with Mike Lindsay, these releases establish an art‑pop and indie‑pop songwriting approach with occasional psychedelic edges, where guitars give way to textures, keyboards and light arrangements, with a clear focus on direct, fragile and understated songs. With the album Move On With The Year, released in 2026, Alice Costelloe extends this evolution into a broader format, structuring her compositions around themes of family relationships, grief and the reconfiguration of the self.
