Whores.
Formed in the early 2010s in Atlanta, Georgia, the American trio Whores. sits within the lineage of abrasive noise rock informed by sludge and hardcore punk. Led by singer‑guitarist Christian Lembach, Whores. develops a dense sound built on repetitive riffs, heavy rhythms and strained vocals, with a marked attention to direct song structures and a dynamic play between tension and release. The band drew notice on the independent scene with the EP “Ruiner” (2011), followed by “Clean” (2013) — two releases that placed Whores. on the club and festival circuits devoted to heavy and experimental music in both the United States and Europe. A split with Rabbits in the mid‑2010s reinforced their presence within an alternative noise/metal network, before their first full‑length album, “Gold.”, appeared in 2016, condensing the aesthetic they had developed up to that point around mid‑tempos, foregrounded saturated guitars and a frontal vocal approach. Between intensive touring, changes in the rhythm section and occasional collaborations with nearby metal and punk acts, Whores. continues to pursue a physical, unadorned approach to heavy guitar, privileging immediate impact and a sonic atmosphere that remains constantly under pressure.
