Maga

Having come up through Cape Town’s nightlife — where he ran a club at 22 and learned to mix from the resident DJ, Mickael (aka Maga) — he has built a trajectory rooted in house and melodic techno, with organic textures, supple grooves and slow progressions designed for the dancefloor. A first experience at Burning Man in 2017 marked a turning point for Maga: since then the DJ and producer has played there nine times on stages such as Robot Heart, Mayan Warrior and Maxa, while alternating between clubs, large-scale events and afterparties. That approach to the set, based on energy but also on leaving space for the tracks, runs through all of his work. In 2022 Maga launched Scenarios with Emanuel Satie, Sean Doron and Tim Engelhardt — a collective and label born from the musical affinity between the four artists. Through this project as well as in his solo performances, Maga operates on an international electronic scene where rhythmic tension, airy melodies and a progressive approach to mixing intersect.
