Coby Sey

Based in Lewisham in south London, Coby Sey has been building a career since the early 2010s at the intersection of experimental electronics, ambient and a restrained vocal approach that sits between singing, declamation and composition. A musician, producer, DJ and presenter on NTS Radio, Coby Sey first appeared on various projects within the London scene before releasing his own tracks and the EP Whities 010: Transport for Lewisham in 2017. He followed this with River and the soundtrack MASS in 2020, which extended an aesthetic of pared-down rhythms, dark textures and spacious arrangements. In parallel he has worked with Tirzah, Mica Levi, Laurel Halo, Klein and Lafawndah, and co-founded the collective Curl with Mica Levi and Brother May. His debut album, Conduit, was released in 2022 on AD 93. Coby Sey has since continued to move between solo formats, collaborations and radio, while developing the trio GAISTER with Olivia Salvadori and Akihide Monna; their album GAISTER was released in 2024.
