Borgore
Born Yosef Asaf Borger in Holon, Israel, and raised in Tel Aviv, Borgore emerged in the late 2000s on the bass music scene with a confrontational dubstep sound drawing on trap, electro house and metal influences from his past as the drummer of Israeli band Shabira. Early on he combined heavy rhythms, abrasive bass and a taste for stark contrasts, labeling part of his approach “gorestep.” After relocating to Los Angeles in 2012 he also developed his own label, Buygore, which releases his material as well as work by artists close to his aesthetic. Albums such as #Newgoreorder (2014), The Art of Gore (2019) and CHIAROSCURO (2024) trace his evolution between massive dubstep, EDM hybridizations and more open structures; his output ranges from club tracks and rap‑leaning songs to forays into other registers, including a jazz‑tinged EP, Adventures in Time (2018). He has collaborated with artists like Miley Cyrus on “Decisions” (2012) and with Carnage, Waka Flocka Flame, G‑Eazy and Juicy J, and his career links him to electronic festivals as well as bass and crossover scenes.
