Info
On 13 February 2027, Manchester Academy hosts The “Escape The Internet II” 2027 Tour, bringing together four names who’ve turned technique into a real live language: Bernth, Mike Dawes, Charles Berthoud and Ola Englund.
Mike Dawes comes in with that modern fingerstyle approach where one acoustic guitar covers melody, bass and percussion at once, shaped by years of arranging and solo writing from What Just Happened? to Galactic Acid. Bernth takes things into heavier territory, mixing instrumental metal and progressive rock with sharp phrasing and riff-driven compositions, the kind of precision he’s honed both as a touring guitarist and through his own releases.
On bass, Charles Berthoud flips the usual roles, pushing the instrument into solo territory with chords, harmonics and two-handed tapping, drawing from rock, fusion and a more composed, classical-minded sense of structure. Together, it’s a night built around players who don’t just shred, but actually arrange, write and reimagine what their instruments can do on stage.
