Futuro Pelo is Benjamin Sportès's unfiltered project.
Active on the alternative scene since 1983, he built his renown for fifteen years as part of Sporto Kantes, with performances at La Cigale, Le Trianon, Le Bataclan, Route du Rock, Marsatac, Cabaret Vert, Les Transmusicales, Printemps de Bourges. The artist swapped Paris for a brutalist studio in Brussels, the Brussels Unlimited Noise Klub, where he took refuge to write this new chapter.
A cocktail of rock'n'roll, electro, garage, punk, and pop. Sportès himself says he cannot qualify his music, but it is propelled by a visceral need to perform. His influences evoke the shadow of Nick Cave and the raw urgency of Gun Club, crossing the brute energy of The Stooges with Jamie T's electro-punk and Genesis Owusu's razor-sharp flow.
A new album: 'Sketches of Loss'
After a decade away from the guitar, 'Sketches of Loss' marks a return to primal roots — rock'n'roll, garage, punk — born of a life-or-death urgency and a brutal proximity to death. The album reflects a year of mourning, marked by the loss of his son, then of his father.
Futuro Pelo will be performing at the Pop-up du Label on 9 November 2026.
