Stephen Bruner, better known as Thundercat, is a bassist and singer from Los Angeles who moves effortlessly between jazz fusion, funk, soul and R&B. His career spans a wide range: from the hardcore energy of Suicidal Tendencies to his key role on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly. In his own work he blends virtuosic, melodic basslines with often high, airy vocals and lyrics that feel both personal and pop-culture aware.
With his fifth album Distracted, Thundercat dives into the overstimulation of the digital age: endless scrolling, notifications, and noise in your head. Working with producer Greg Kurstin and guests like Willow and A$AP Rocky, he crafts an album that balances late-night soul, playful jazz harmonies and a subtle melancholy.
On August 18, 2026, Thundercat will perform live at OLT Rivierenhof (Deurne), where his concerts are known for their unexpected twists, humor and that distinctive mix of tight groove-work and spontaneous outbursts.
