Formed in Boston around Brandon Hagen and drummer Drew McDonald, Vundabar has built a sound that swings between sharp, surf‑tinged guitars, post‑punk edges and tuneful hooks. Early records like Antics and Gawk set a raw, direct tone, before Smell Smoke tightened the writing around more intimate themes. Either Light broadened the palette with keys and softer textures, while Devil for the Fire pushed into darker corners and broken rhythms. On stage, the core duo plays with rotating bassists, keeping the focus on contrast: bright melodies, tense grooves, sudden turns.
Yot Club is the project of American musician Ryan Kaiser, shaped between Mississippi and Nashville. Think clear, lightly saturated guitars, steady, looping beats and a hushed voice that leans into everyday moods. Online traction around YKWIM? put the project on wider radars, then the 2022 album off the grid nudged the formula toward quicker tempos and melodic post‑punk lines. Live, Yot Club expands to a full band, giving those suburban ennui and escape‑hatch songs a leaner, more propulsive frame.
