Moral Support and Le Chinois present:

* Dorian Pimpernel (release party)

In 2014, the Parisian quintet Dorian Pimpernel released Allombon, a pop manifesto — a collection of graceful, erudite pocket symphonies drawing on the learned pop of the 1960s, krautrock and the Canterbury scene to shape a singular aesthetic that is at once nostalgic and modern, melodic and winding, radiant and shadowy. They coined a term for it: “moonshine pop,” the nocturnal, moody, dreamlike counterpart to sunshine pop.

Twelve years later, Dorian Pimpernel returns with a new album, Flowers Too, which extends, develops and enriches this modernist pop aesthetic. Built from sequences, experiments and stitched-together song fragments, and augmented with Beach Boys–style backing vocals, the tracks deploy an extensive instrumental palette to expand their colors and textures. In reaction to short formats and the minimalism of today’s commercial standards, Dorian Pimpernel rekindles the symphonic-pop gesture, the beauty of simulacra, and the ideal upheld by melody.

* Julien Gasc

After answering the call of the forest and that of his “mountain ancestors,” Julien Gasc dons mask and snorkel for an underwater expedition — a romantic introspection. The storm rages, but at the bottom of the ocean he has found tranquility.

It is by visiting the abyss that the member of Aquaserge manages to reconnect with his own being, even his malaise: “I found the blue pearl that adorns the cover in a gutter during a random stroll. This plastic jewel symbolizes for me the blues that one sometimes feels, notably during the making of this record. The pearl is the image of the mother, of Mother Earth.”

His new album Pearls, Corals and Sharks is released on June 5 on Prohibited Records.

* Boris Maurussane

Between Beach Boys influences, jazz psychedelia and Brazilian currents, Boris Maurussane offers melodic pop. His debut solo album Social Kaleidoscope, released in 2022 (WeWant2Wecord and Hot Puma Records), received critical attention. His new album Tears of English Town will be released on June 26, 2026; the first single, “The Season’s Ending,” was released on April 14, 2026. The record further emphasizes his impressionistic songwriting and arrangements (Debussy, Jobim, Herbie Hancock). The result sometimes evokes the High Llamas or Stereolab.
