Boris Maurussane
French composer, singer and guitarist Boris Maurussane crafts a chamber-style psychedelic pop that blends Canterbury influences, baroque writing, touches of jazz, impressionism and echoes of Brazilian popular music. Sung in English, his songs move forward through winding melodies, dense harmonies and narrative forms, with lyrics that explore time, memory, waiting and the relationship to nature and society. His arranging work is central, balancing folk and electric guitars, organs, recorders, winds, strings and more synthetic textures, placing him within the French independent pop scene. For his first solo project, Boris Maurussane enlisted drummers Jean Thevenin and Stéphane Bellity, pianist Sandrine Marchetti and musicians such as Julien Gasc, Dick Turner, Gabriel Nauleau, Emma Broughton and Laurent Talon, before mixing and post-production were handled with Domotic and Angy Laperdrix. This trajectory outlines a world where timbral research, harmonic precision and a rhythmically driven psychedelia remain at the heart of Boris Maurussane’s songwriting.
