Julien Gasc

French musician based in Toulouse, Julien Gasc has, since the early 2010s, developed an oblique pop where chanson, light psychedelia, vocal harmonies and a taste for concise arrangements intersect. After a stint with Aquaserge and before establishing a solo path, Julien Gasc has tightened his songwriting around clear melodies, elliptical lyrics and an aesthetic that draws as much from 1960s baroque pop as from a more oblique French tradition. His albums Cerf, Biche et Faon (2013), Kiss Me, You Fool! (2016) and Re Eff (2023) outline a continuity of compact songs, sung without emphasis, where melodic clarity sits alongside subtle harmonic shifts. Active in an independent scene accustomed to back-and-forths between rock, experimentation and pop formats, Julien Gasc has also taken part in several collective projects and collaborations, extending a trajectory in which group work directly feeds his personal writing.
