Michelle Gurevich

On March 27, 2027, Michelle Gurevich took over Le Trianon in Paris with songs from her seventh album, It Was the Moment, written and produced at home. There she pursues an intimate, melancholic and unflinching register, carried by her contralto and spare arrangements. The songs probe very personal themes: overflowing passion, passing encounters, the loss of a mother and of a home, the arrival of the end, and reason that falters, between light and night.

On stage, Gurevich shifts these slow ballads into a more physical encounter, surrounded by a band, without losing the economy of means that marks her writing. Between dark realism with cinematic overtones and restrained humor, she fits into a line of dramatic singer-songwriters, with a firmly rooted Eastern European inheritance. A writer and independent producer, she retains an almost domestic intimacy in both sound and gesture. From the bedroom to the stage, her pieces gain depth, standing at the crossroads of a gentle fatalism and an energy that holds back the night.
