Info

Louis‑Jean Cormier has been a steady voice in Montreal’s music landscape since the late 1990s, moving between Québécois chanson, indie rock and folk‑tinged pop. Born in Sept‑Îles and based in Montreal, he first came to notice as singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of Karkwa, releasing several studio albums and touring widely in Quebec and the francophone world. In 2010, Karkwa’s Les chemins de verre received the Polaris Music Prize.

Since 2012, Cormier has explored a more intimate solo path, where French lyrics take center stage and detailed arrangements frame the songwriting. His records Le Treizième étage, Les Grandes Artères, Quand la nuit tombe and Le ciel est au plancher trace that evolution. On stage, he shifts with ease between full electric setups and stripped‑down formats, keeping a clear line between energy and melody. Alongside his own projects, he also works as a producer, arranger and co‑writer within the contemporary francophone scene.

Louis‑Jean Cormier will be at Le Club Dix30 in Brossard on April 2, 2026.
