Hazlett
Driven by introspective songwriting, Hazlett crafts an indie-folk with pop inflections from Stockholm, informed by his path between Australia and Scandinavia. Originally from Brisbane, the musician settled in Sweden and, together with producer Freddy Alexander, built a sound centered on acoustic guitar, spare arrangements and a prominently placed vocal. The Hazlett project took shape through several singles and the 2020 EP “Thundering Hopes”, which established an aesthetic of melancholic ballads, supple rhythms and subtle electronic touches. The first full-length, “Bloom Mountain”, released in 2023 on Nettwerk, extends this approach, broadening into a more expansive alternative pop that plays on contrasts between hushed moods and brighter climaxes. Hazlett’s songs explore recurring themes of doubt, nostalgia and intimate relationships, with particular attention to melody and the space left between instruments, anchoring Hazlett in a contemporary folk vein that is both warm and introspective.
