Chance Peña

Born in East Texas, Chance Peña is part of a generation of songwriters who bridge tradition and modernity without ever forcing the point. A precocious musician, he drew the industry’s attention at a very young age and, at just 17, signed with Secret Road Music Publishing, paving the way for a career defined by finely crafted writing and a keen sense of storytelling. His track Up, Up & Away, featured in the film Five Feet Apart, quickly drew the spotlight, as did his collaboration with John Legend on Conversations in the Dark, which earned him a Grammy nomination. Since then, Peña has carved out a world of his own, between minimalist folk, sensitive pop, and hushed production, driven by lyrics that are both intimate and contemplative. With Ever-Shifting, Continual Blossoming, he took a decisive step forward, confirming his taste for organic atmospheres and immersive arrangements. His next album, When I Change My Mind I Don’t Mean It, written in seclusion in a California cabin, reveals an even more stripped-back, introspective approach.
