Edwin Raphael

Between Montréal, Dubai and India, Edwin Raphael has developed a career shaped by geographic movement and an intimate songwriting voice. Based in Québec, the singer-songwriter places his music within indie folk and alternative pop, with slow-paced songs driven by a forward vocal, muted guitars and atmospheric textures bordering on dream pop. Edwin Raphael emerged in the mid-2010s with several self-released tracks and EPs that rooted him in Montréal’s independent scene and built an online following. His first full-length album, Will You Think of Me Later?, released in 2020, consolidated this work around introspective lyrics where identity, distance and memories intersect, and the collaborative EP Staring at Ceilings (2021) broadened his sonic palette by pairing his folk writing with denser arrangements. In 2023 the album Warm Terracotta continued this evolution, placing greater emphasis on contemplative atmospheres while retaining Edwin Raphael’s economy of means. On stage he adapts these compositions into stripped-down formats or full-band setups, moving between small venues and independent networks, and occasionally collaborates with other musicians from the indie-folk and alternative circles.
