Blue

Formed in London in 2000, the boy band Blue brings together Duncan James, Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe and Antony Costa around a blend of pop and R&B driven by vocal harmonies. The quartet established themselves in the early 2000s with the album All Rise (2001), followed by One Love (2002) and Guilty (2003), which positioned Blue on the British and European pop scene thanks to songwriting focused on immediate choruses, mid-tempo ballads and several more dance-pop–oriented tracks. Blue's music draws on contemporary R&B and American soul while maintaining a radio-friendly, mainstream approach. After a hiatus beginning in 2005, during which the members pursued solo projects and television work, the group reunited and resumed touring, releasing Roulette (2013) and Colours (2015). Blue’s participation in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest for the United Kingdom with the song “I Can” marked a milestone in that comeback. The quartet has since continued its activity with Heart & Soul (2022), occasional collaborations—most notably with Elton John—and a steady presence on festival stages and nostalgia tours dedicated to 2000s pop.
