Destroy Lonely

From the Atlanta scene and of Liberian descent, Bobby Wardell Sandimanie III began developing his music early under the name Destroy Lonely, first with tracks recorded in his teens and later with support from producers Texaco and Nezzus, who appear on his earliest work. The Destroy Lonely project coalesces into a melodic, hazy rap that sits at the crossroads of Atlanta trap, atmospheric moods, soft synths and reworked guitar lines, with a flexible way of varying cadences. After several independent releases—Darkhorse in 2019, Underworld in 2020, then </3 and </3² in 2020—Destroy Lonely started to circulate more widely with the track "Bane" before signing in 2021 to Opium, the label founded by Playboi Carti. That signing placed him in an environment close to Ken Carson and Homixide Gang, with whom he shares a dark, highly stylized aesthetic. No Stylist in 2022 marked an important step in his career, followed by his debut studio album If Looks Could Kill in 2023 and Love Lasts Forever in 2024. Throughout these releases, Destroy Lonely extends a universe centered on ego trips, relationships and nocturnal imagery, while maintaining a vocal approach that moves fluidly between rap and melody.
