American rapper and singer Andre Dontrel Burt Jr., known as SoFaygo, was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 2001 and grew up in Atlanta, where he honed his craft within the local rap scene and on online platforms. SoFaygo drew attention in the late 2010s with an aesthetic blending melodic trap, cloud-rap influences, and rage-rap textures, driven by a high-pitched voice and atmospheric, bass-forward, synth-laced production. The viral spread of his track “Knock Knock,” initially released in 2019 and widely amplified on social media in 2020, marked a turning point and caught the eye of Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack imprint. He joined the label in the early 2020s, cementing his place in the mainstream rap landscape while maintaining a strong presence within SoundCloud-born online communities. Before his debut album, he released several projects and EPs, including 2020’s “After Me,” which solidified his identity between sung hooks and rapid-fire flows. In 2022, SoFaygo released the album “Pink Heartz,” expanding a world built on saturated electronic production, looping melodies, and writing focused on relationships, partying, and life on tour, furthering the hybrid aesthetic that established him among the new generation of Atlanta rap.
