Kumo 99

Based in Berlin, the duo Kumo 99 develops an electronic project situated at the crossroads of experimental club scenes and recent forms of digital pop. Kumo 99 combines rhythms drawing on reggaeton, trap and bass music with abrasive textures, heavily processed vocals and a songwriting approach geared toward short, direct track formats. Active since the late 2010s, Kumo 99 primarily releases music via singles and EPs on independent labels, positioning itself within an international network of artists who use club codes to explore more melodic or fragmented aesthetics. On stage, Kumo 99 alternates between live sets and DJ sets, often conceived for club contexts with high sound intensity, playing with abrupt tempo changes and contrasts between very rhythmic passages and more vocal-led sequences. The project pursues numerous collaborations with producers and singers from various online scenes, fueling a constantly evolving sonic universe while maintaining a signature centered on punchy percussion, saturated bass and instantly recognizable hooks.
