Faetooth
Active on Los Angeles’s independent metal scene, Faetooth has been developing a slow, massive doom metal since the late 2010s, colored by sludge, shoegaze and elements sometimes described as “fairy doom,” where melodic vocals contrast with very heavy guitars. The American lineup, made up of female musicians from the local DIY sphere, forges its songs around stretched structures, marked dynamic shifts and a strong emphasis on atmosphere, between repetitive motifs, crushing riffs and more intimate passages. The band made its first steps with digital releases and shows in small Los Angeles venues before moving closer to independent labels interested in extreme and experimental sounds. In 2022 Faetooth released the album Remnants of the Vessel, which captures in the studio an aesthetic already honed on stage and positions the group in a register where doom blends with post‑rock and psychedelic influences. By playing numerous dates with other US acts close to sludge, post‑metal or blackgaze, Faetooth continues to anchor its music in a network of alternative scenes while refining a sonic language centered on slowness, tension and layered textures.
